Please do not use any powders, talcs, sprays or deodorants on breast and underarm area the day of the exam. Exam Day: Two basic views are taken of each breast, with compression. Compression of the breast is essential in order to: spread the breast evenly over the cassette, make the tissue of more even density and immobilize the breast to reduce scattered radiation. If you have painful breasts prior to menstruation, try to schedule your mammogram after the tenderness is gone. The examination takes approximately 15 minutes and your doctor should receive the results within a week. Please
